10 Ways to Impact Positive Change in an Effed Up World

Have you even gotten a text from a individual or group and you can just feel the disappointment oozing from the screen?

Me too. These moments are rarely pleasant, but I also know they are a request for help in their own harsh way. As the years turn to decades, I’ve had plenty of experience in navigating these tense moments with love, patience, and empathy and I'd like to share what I have learned from these moments.

First and foremost, all of us in the world of heart-centered work know we are "in service". Each one of us has our own unique vibe, a reflection of the whole. Each one of us a gift. A gift to impact change and we can do so on so many levels.

We need to bring a new awareness to these age-old problems. If we want a different solution or answer, we have to do something different otherwise the insanity will continue. A great step in that direction is by impacting change from a heart-centered soulful place. Instead of thinking about a solution, ask yourself how this change feels? That question brings about an entirely new set of solutions and skills to deal with the issues we now face.

Here are 10 of my thoughts on creating a new Blueprint of Awareness by moving it to the Heart.

1. Co-Create Together

It's important for leaders and followers to co-create together. Followers express a need and the leader supplies a response to that need, which will have everyone rising together in its solution.

2. Grow from the Inside Out

Any group needs to grow from the inside out. The group first needs to be met where they are. We as leaders need to operate from the heart and soul level. We as leaders need to assess what the group is needing. Do they need a parent, a protector, motivator, coach, healer, spiritual guidance etc.? Whatever it is they're needing, the leader has to fuel the group to impact a collaborative change.

3. Have a Vision

Define the outcome you want to see in advance. You will accomplish this goal or outcome by consulting and using your inner guidance to create a "heart-felt" plan to bring the vision to fruition.

4. Solutions are shared by Leaders and Followers

The response to an issue has to be built into the leaders and followers alike. When all parties are involved in the solution, you have a built in guidance system which will evolve and progress the situation forward. Our heart centers and souls know how to unfold the evolution process to produce the highest and best outcome in any situation.

5. Needs Evolve

People's needs are designed to evolve, and we as leaders must be aware of this in order to anticipate what a group may need in the future. In this order as well: the group's needs are safety, security, achievement, cooperation, understanding, creativity, moral values, spiritual fulfillment. These are the needs that have evolved over time in every society.

6. Play the Right Role

For every need, the leader must play the right role for the group. The need for security calls for a protector; achievement calls for a motivator; cooperation calls for a team builder; understanding calls for a nurturer; creativity calls for an innovator; moral values call for a transformer; spiritual fulfillment calls for a sage or seer. Your heart and soul know how to fulfill any need with the least amount of effort and struggle. A leader who can tap directly into this knowledge gains tremendous power for good, far beyond that of someone who concentrates on external goals and rewards.

7. Understand the Hierarchy of Need and their Responses

The leader who understands the hierarchy of needs and how to respond to them will succeed. The reason why is simple. It's because the leader is guiding the evolution and transformation of the group on cellular and vibrational levels.

8. Touch Every Level of the Hierarchy of Needs

Any group can be made to feel inspired and unified if the ascending order of their needs is met. Great leaders touch every level of the human experience. They understand that the people in their group yearn for freedom, love, and spiritual worth. Great leaders are not afraid to hold out higher goals that lie beyond material rewards. BUT, at the same time they don't lead from the mountaintop. Every leader is also every man and every woman.

A lower need like the need to feel safe must be understood, genuinely felt, and then fully met before moving to a higher need. The challenge at hand can be as small as a discussion in which people feel safe to express their innermost feelings or as profound as leading society out of oppression. The soul knows every level of life; a great leader aspires to know the same.

9. Give of Yourself Fearlessly

Leading from the heart and soul means giving of yourself. It means you supply trust, stability, compassion, and hope. You spend time investing in relationships with those who turn to you for answers. You lead by empowering others.

10. Bring Order Out of Disorder

The soul brings order out of disorder. It brings creative leaps, unexpected answers, and synchronicities that are like gifts from the heart of the mystery. No matter how complex and confusing a situation looks, leadership is possible when you are comfortable with uncertainty. Once a leader sees the hidden spiritual order that lies beneath what seems to be chaos, they thrive on uncertainty. You must learn how to manage the fact that situations are tangled, otherwise, any group you lead will be crippled by turmoil.

There is always a jumble of needs and responses that must be sorted out. Fear and survival, competition and creativity, beliefs and personalities make their demands. They each have a voice, whether we hear them or not, but underneath the jumbled surface, there is only one voice, the silent whisper of spirit, which understands everything.
